PHP Announces the departure of Jay Gilbert, President of PHP

After more than 20 years of outstanding service to PHP, Jay Gilbert, president and CEO of PHP, will be leaving the company effective August 19. A search for Gilbert's replacement will begin immediately, according to David W. Stein, M.D., Chairman of the Board.

"The growth and success of PHP over the past 20 years can be directly attributed to Jay,” Dr. Stein said. “His guidance through the good and bad times in our industry has been exemplary, and he will be greatly missed.”

Gilbert will be relocating to Florida where the majority of his family resides. During his tenure PHP has grown to insure nearly 1,300 employer groups, while introducing many new products including high deductible coverage and individual healthcare coverage throughout Northern Indiana.

“PHP is an asset to the counties we serve,” Gilbert said. “I am proud to have been part of a team that has improved the delivery of healthcare in our community.”

Gilbert was the architect of The Chamber's Health Matters discount program. Health Matters is a joint effort between PHP and The Chamber to offer a discount of up to 5 percent on employee health insurance. Chamber members save more than $1 million a year through this program.

Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana Inc. (PHP) offers health insurance products and services to businesses, individuals, and families. Products include HMO, POS, high-deductible health plans compatible with HSAs, HRA and FSA options, Rx, dental, life, disability, and TPA services.
