Tie1On4 Prostate Cancer
Wardrobe alert: save your blue neck tie for Thursday! Get out your blue ties and get ready to help raise awareness about the important issue of prostate cancer.
One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime, so it’s important to understand the disease, its risk factors, prevention techniques, and treatment options. To assist with this effort, Cancer Services and the local chapter of the national prostate cancer support group Us TOO have organized several activities during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September to help raise awareness about the disease in Northeast Indiana. The promotional events are entitled “Tie1On4 Prostate Cancer” and incorporate men’s blue neckties as the coordinating theme to draw attention to prostate cancer research, screenings, and treatments.
Members of the community are encouraged to wear blue ties to work this Thursday, September 30. We invite you to send photos of your staff wearing blue ties to Amber Recker at arecker@cancer-services.org.
Throughout September in the eleven counties of Northeast Indiana, businesses, healthcare facilities and government buildings will display Tie1On4 Prostate Cancer banners and blue ties to assist Cancer Services and Us TOO in raising awareness for Prostate Cancer. Banners are proudly displayed at Strickler Cancer Center at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Bluffton Regional Medical Center in Bluffton, Bluffton Regional Cancer Center in Bluffton, Pill Box Pharmacy in Warsaw, Parkview LaGrange in LaGrange, Dekalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn, Cameron Memorial Community Hospital Regional Cancer Center in Angola, Parkview Whitley in Columbia City, Parkview Huntington, Noble County Courthouse, NEIU Prostate Cancer Center in Fort Wayne, Allen County Courthouse Lawn, The Community Center, and The Towne House Retirement Community.
