Feet on the Street: It’s Not a Garage Sale…..

By Teresa Royer, Member Relations Specialist

I was out to visit The Perfect Pear recently on Coldwater Road --- 8414 Coldwater Road to be exact.  If you are heading north on Coldwater Road – a little past the Dairy Queen, you will see a sign in the yard of a house with a detached garage on the right hand-hand side of the road that says “Open 10 to 3.”

At first I thought it was a garage sale, as each time I passed by, I noticed the same sign out –with another sign beside it with the garage door up. Then, I thought “man, they sure have a lot of garage sales….”

Well, I’m here to tell you – it is actually a boutique named “The Perfect Pear” (that was the other sign in the yard). It offers very cool, fun, classy gift items, home décor and more – even reading glasses, as well as Cinda B bags & purses (made in Fort Wayne) – you get the picture – a lot of variety.

Seven years ago, Teresa Riethmiller and her business partner opened the store as “Pineapples and Chairies” offering home décor items. Since then Teresa has renamed the business to “The Perfect Pear” and has extended their offerings to include gift items and many other accessories – too many to mention… They also make house calls offering interior decorating services.

The house is filled with the home furnishing and gift side-of-things, and the garage is filled with a lot of décor specifically for the lake and outdoors. A lampshade with fish on it caught my eye, but unfortunately we don’t really have fishermen in our family – we have deer hunters. Teresa told me they have plans to keep adding to their lines. (Teresa, if you ever have a lamp that has deer on the lampshade, you may have a buyer for that…)

So, if you’re in the market for something unique for you or a loved one, I suggest you patronize The Perfect Pear – you can learn more about them at http://www.theperfectpearfw.com/ or give them a call at (260) 490-9540.

By the way, Teresa said many people think they are a garage sale at first. She attributes her success to location and word-of-mouth. I guess you would consider this blog posting word-of-mouth as well, right?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Until next time, happy shopping!
