Feet on the Street: Coupons and Cops on the Roof

By Teresa Royer, Member Relations Specialist

Do you know that National Donut Day will soon be upon us? Yep, it’s June 4. If you go to Dunkin Donuts on that day you’ll get a free donut with the purchase of any drink.

I didn’t know either until I spoke with the Business Development folks, Tom Pecoraro and Kristi Morley when they stopped into the Chamber a few weeks ago to learn more about their membership.

(Be sure to read the last paragraph of this posting to save money at Dunkin Donuts for the month of June if you’re a Chamber member.)

Tom and Kristi represent the owners, Gavin and Kim Hart – they own all Dunkin Donut locations in Fort Wayne (except West Jefferson) as well as various Dairy Queen locations in town.

I also learned that three of their locations had cops on the roof the day we met (May 17) -- to help support the Special Olympics. The cop had to stay on the roof until 2 p.m. or until their financial goal was met, whichever came first. You have to hand it to the police for playing along with the ole “cop and donut” jokes, don’t you think?

It felt good to know I heard about it first-hand when I saw the photo on the front page of the paper the following morning…

Anyways, it was what I would call a productive meeting – they learned many ways they can take advantage of their membership and I learned more about them – things like:

  • Kim Hart grew up in the business – working at their family-owned Dairy Queen on Parnell Avenue.
  • Gavin and Kim Hart (husband and wife team) have been involved with Dairy Queen for the past 19 years and Dunkin Donuts for the past 4 years and are now expanding into Indianapolis.
Thank you Gavin and Kim for investing in Fort Wayne!

If you are a Chamber member, be sure to visit the Chamber’s website at
www.fwchamber.org to take advantage of a special coupon Dunkin Donuts is offering through the month of June. Just click on the Member Login page on the right hand side, log in and click on “M2M Discounts.” If you don’t know your username and password, just let me know or call the front desk at (260) 424-1435.

P.S.  Any Chamber member can offer a coupon to other members. It’s our way of getting members to not only support each other but to help you make money and save money!
