Verizon Fast-Tracking Text Donations for Haiti

The other day we told you about Sprint's offer to waive texting fees for Fort Wayne residents making donations to Haiti relief efforts via text messaging. Verizon Wireless has also stepped up to the plate.

Verizon Wireless customers in Indiana have pledged more than $245,000 to relief for Haiti by texting donations. As the outpouring of support continues from Hoosier wireless users texting HAITI to 90999, Verizon Wireless said it would continue to advance funds pledged by its customers and provide dollars to the Red Cross outside normal operation procedures. The mobile giving process can take 60-90 days from the time a donation is made by text to the time a charity actually receives those dollars... Verizon has fast tracked its customer donations across the nation due to the dramatic need in the earthquake torn country.
