In 2007, the annual Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal ranked Fort Wayne as the top city in the country for minor league sports. 2008 saw Fort Wayne drop from the spot with the cited reason being "poor attendance at indoor football games."
But this year, Fort Wayne has made a comeback and is listed as second of the 239 minor league markets. Hershey-Harrisburg, Pennsylvania was ranked at first.
According to the Fort Wayne News Sentinel, city officials use the positive rankings to draw crowds to future events.
