SCAN, CANI, Salvation Army receive Apartment Association donations

Two local charities were the beneficiaries of donations from the Apartment Association of Fort Wayne-NE Indiana (AAFW-NEI) at its 2010 Summit Celebration on Feb. 5. Chamber members Community Action of Northeast Indiana (CANI) and Stop Child Abuse & Neglect (SCAN) each received checks for $1,500 from the association. The donations were the result of fundraising activities conducted by the AAFW-NEI Community Outreach Committee in 2010.

A silent auction at the Summit Celebration also raised $1,655 for the Association’s 2011 designated charities, Lutheran Social Services and the Mustard Seed furniture bank.

Also, as part of a community outreach activity, AAFW-NEI donated $500 to The Salvation Army Fort Wayne to assist with the agency’s various charitable programs that help individuals who are less fortunate. In addition, association members collected 171 hats, mittens and scarves at their recent Breakfast Connection meeting to give to the Salvation Army for distribution to the needy.

The Apartment Association of Fort Wayne-NE Indiana is a non-profit organization covering the nine-county area of northeastern Indiana.
