Chamber helps AIDS Task Force create new humanitarian award

The Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the inaugural event of its 135 Random Acts of Kindness campaign: Assisting the AIDS Task Force of Northeast Indiana in the establishment of the Larry Wardlaw Humanitarian Award.

The award was created to honor those individuals and organizations that showed exceptional support the task force. Larry Wardlaw, pictured, vice president at the Asher Agency, is being honored with the name of the award for his tireless dedication to education and advocacy on behalf of the AIDS Task Force.

The first recipient of the award is Lutheran Hospital for its longtime support of the work of the AIDS Task Force.

The 2011 award will be presented to Lutheran Hospital at a ceremony in the main lobby of the hospital on West Jefferson Boulevard at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3.

“We are thrilled to be able to honor such a great institution as Lutheran Hospital while partnering with The Chamber to create this award,” said Mark T. Carboni, 2011 board president of the AIDS Task Force. “Larry Wardlaw is a hero to the AIDS Task Force.”

The AIDS Task Force will continue the award in Wardlaw’s honor.

In celebration of its 135th year serving the local business community, The Chamber will complete 135 random acts of kindness in Fort Wayne. Companies interested in donating to the 135 Random Acts of Kindness Campaign can request more information by writing to 135randomacts@fwchamber.org.
