How to identify and treat bed bugs

Back by popular demand, bed bugs will once again be the topic of the Breakfast Connection event of the Apartment Association of Fort Wayne-NE Indiana Inc. when it meets in January at Don Hall’s Guesthouse, 1313 West Washington Center Road in Fort Wayne.

The breakfast on Tuesday, January 11, at 8 a.m., is a follow-up to a discussion in November that focused on the identification of bed bugs. Led by representatives of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement and the Allen County Health Department, that meeting was so well-attended that the Association decided to host a second discussion to provide additional information.

The Apartment Association’s bed bug discussion is in response to a rising incidence of bed bugs nationwide and locally that has the multi-family rental industry -- as well as hotels/motels and college dormitories -- crawling for effective ways to avoid or control this problem. January’s Breakfast Connection meeting on "Bed Bugs, Part II: Treatment Options," will feature a presentation by Arrow Services Inc. on the pro-active treatment and eradication of bed bugs once they have been identified.

The Breakfast Connection is open to Apartment Association members as well as anyone interested in learning more about the Association and/or the identification and treatment of bed bugs.

Reservations are required by Thursday, January 6, and can be made by calling the Apartment Association at 260-482-2916 or by e-mailing info@aafw.org.

Apartment Association members include apartment owners, on-site apartment personnel and those who supply goods and services to the home rental industry.
