Celebrating Loyalty: Rothberg Logan & Warsco Honors one of Their Own

Chamber members Rothberg Logan & Warsco LLP Attorneys at Law recently honored one of their long-time employees, Arlene L. Colone, for 40 years of service. Arlene has been a legal secretary for various attorneys in the firm since 1970.

Now that’s something worth celebrating.

Here’s a few fun facts about Arlene:

She was hired June 20, 1970

The firm’s name in 1970 was Rothberg, Gallmeyer, Fruechtenicht & Logan. Arlene was hired by John Heiney (who was the managing partner at the time) to be his secretary.  She worked for him for 27 years.

Arlene has worked for RLW in three different locations – the Indiana Bank Building for 25 years, the National City Center for 15 years, and now at their new location on East Washington Boulevard.  Some of Arlene’s best memories were times when the Firm moved along with the excitement of remodeling new offices and starting fresh.

Arlene says, “I have enjoyed the people I have worked with over the years, both attorneys and staff. Many of the friendships I have made will last a lifetime.”

Arlene enjoys her free time with family and friends at Lake Erie, and also her semi-annual trips to Las Vegas.  She is interested in learning more about gardening and plants, which is something she plans to take up when she retires “in a few years.”

Her current bosses – both Partners with the firm - have wonderful things to say about Arlene:

Dennis Dykhuizen says: “Arlene possesses all the traits you seek in an employee – she is trustworthy, loyal and talented with an outstanding work ethic.  Throughout her 40 years with the firm she has gained experience in a wide variety of areas including real estate law, litigation, corporate, banking, health care, trusts and estates, etc.  Just about any area in which the firm has practiced, she has worked and performed well.   Thus, she now has a broad knowledge of the law, and probably knows a lot more than most attorneys in town!  Today, she has the knowledge to be able to proofread and edit legal documents, saving the attorneys she works for time and eliminating possible mistakes.   In short, it is hard to find someone with her skill set these days.”

Rick Donovan says: “Arlene’s reliability, attention to detail and professional approach to her work have contributed in a major way to our firm’s success during her 40 years of service.  Her commitment and loyalty to the firm and to our clients exemplify the characteristics any business would like their employees to possess.  Rothberg Logan & Warsco is proud to have folks like Arlene as part of our team.”

Arlene’s 40th anniversary was celebrated with attorneys and staff of the firm. She was presented with a beautiful cake, floral arrangement and gift from the firm, and they even named the Staff Lounge after her for a day!
