Valbruna Slater to Expand for Inclusion of Testing Lab

by Lauren Richwine, Communications Specialist

Valbruna Slater Stainless, the U.S. subsidiary of Vicenza, Italy based Acciaierie Valbruna is looking to build a two-story testing lab. The inclusion of the lab would cut costs and improve customer service by keeping that testing in-house.

If everything goes according to plan, the lab could be ready to operate as early as this fall and the company stands positioned to do just that. They’ve already purchased the lab equipment that’s going to be used in the facility.

Valbruna first bought the company out of bankruptcy in 2004 and the momentum hasn’t slowed since. In spite of the economic situation, Valbruna’s work force has increased 15 percent over the past two years. They also expanded last year, creating room for four more furnaces in the new remelting facility measured at 60,000 square feet.

“Our investment speaks clearly to our commitment to quality out of our
Fort Wayne facility,” said Paul From, Chief Executive Officer for Valbruna Slater Stainless. “It also allows us to stretch out and offer our experience and service to other companies in Fort Wayne and greater Indiana as a provider of metallurgical services.”
