IPFW and Sweetwater Partner for New Music Program

We love it when Chamber members partner together - it makes the news twice as exciting for us to share. IPFW and Sweetwater, Inc., have announced a new partnership in the form of a Music Technology Program to be offered at IPFW beginning Fall of 2010. The program will combine an already-excellent university music department with a music organization known around the world. The program will be a collaboration including internships at Sweetwater and classes in the departments of Music, Communication, Business, and Engineering. IPFW and Sweetwater will also be sharing facilities as well as faculty to make the program a success.

Robert Bean, chair of the IPFW Department of Music says:
“This program will set our students apart. Many music technology programs around the country produce music technologists who have a somewhat limited expertise in and knowledge of music. Graduates of this program are, first and foremost, accomplished musicians, who also have high level of expertise in technology."
Chuck Surack, president of Sweetwater, Inc., says:
“This is an opportunity to invest in students and in the future of our community. Music technology is an ever-expanding field, full of opportunity for well-trained, creative young people. We are very pleased to partner with IPFW to help in the development of a first-rate music technology program.”
