Extreme Makeover: Charis House Addition Live and Silent Auction

by Lauren Richwine, Communications Specialist

If you've been looking for a good cause to contribute to locally, look no further! Fort Wayne Rescue Mission Ministries invites you to attend the Extreme Makeover: Charis House Edition Live and Silent Auction on March 20, 2010 at the Grand Wayne Center. Charis house is a homeless shelter that provides life changing programs for women and children in need. All proceeds from the event will benefit the construction of the new Charis House facility.

“The statistic for our region is that currently 100 women and children are turned away each month. All the local shelters are currently at capacity so this larger facility meets a great need,” said Larry Piano, Chief Financial Officer of Rescue Ministries.

“There are real space limitations within the current Charis house facility. We’re able to serve 42 at a time at the Charis house right now,” said Tracy Williams, Board Member and Chair of the Charis House Capital Campaign. “The new building will allow us to serve 78 at a time and is going to have a special wing specifically for emergency or urgent care.”

Guests can expect to have a full evening that features dinner and the opportunity to bid on ‘one of a kind’ live and silent auction items and experiences. Some of the items up for bid include spa packages, a vacation to Maine, Mad Ants Fantasy Coach Experience, a pool table, and much more! Melissa Montana of Star 88.3 will be serving as Master of Ceremonies for the night. For a list of the live and silent auction items, visit www.rescueministries.us or for more information, ask for Diane at 260-426-7357, ext. 12.
