Fort Wayne's Public Works Director, Bob Kennedy, has been selected by American City & County magazine as the 2009 Public Works Leader of the Year. The article covering Kennedy appears in the September edition of the publication.
Kennedy was chosen largely for his role in leading the City's flood fighting efforts multiple times. He also collaborated with Aboite New Trails and the Oprah's Big Give Fort Wayne Trails fund-raising project. Kennedy managed to secure $500,000 dedicated to trails and to also turn $10,000 of seed money into nearly $1.2 million for the local trail efforts.
