Feet on the Street

Stopped by to see Dick Fox of Fox & Fox Frame Service & Body Shop on Van Buren Street. Dick is a 3rd generation owner. His grandfather started the business in 1963; he explained the history of the shop and the need to change with the cars in order to provide the service people need.

If any of you have been past Fox & Fox you recognize the huge tire that served as a landmark for many years is now on top of the building rather than in front of the store. I didn't know this but that tire has a mark left from the flood of 82 on it and people would come by and show others that mark and reminisce about how high the water rose. When Dick moved the tire, he started receiving calls from many confused and unhappy people as now they weren't able to show visitors and remind themselves of the flood. Dick had a special marker made with the year "82" marked on it that stands as high as the water rose during the flood. He made special provisions to get the exact height.

Actions speak louder than words--by Mr. Fox placing that marker in his lot tells me he is a man that listens and cares.
