Comcast Encourages Customers to Go Paperless

Chamber member Comcast is embarking on a special eco-friendly mission. They have promised to plant trees on behalf of every Indiana customer who adopts paperless billing between now and August 10, 2010. They will donate one dollar for each customer who switches to Comcast's "EcoBill," and by doing so, they expect to raise $50,000 for the Arbor Day Foundation.

Donating one dollar for every customer switching to Comcast’s “EcoBill,” the company expects to raise $50,000 over three months for the Arbor Day Foundation. Those dollars will then provide trees which will be planted by the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana in 2011.

According to Comcast, 50,000 customers who go paperless can have an annual impact of nearly 17,000 pounds of paper saved; more than 160,000 gallons of wastewater prevented from discharging into lakes, streams and rivers; nearly 5,500 gallons of gasoline not used; more than 290,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions avoided; and more than 50,000 square feet of forest preserved.

This is a positive move indeed! I've been wondering when people will realize that it's much more convenient to track your invoices online than having to sort out your files for hours. You don't only save time, but you also get to save Mother Nature. Besides, there are many pros to making your workplace paperless. Cheers!
