CVB President Assumes Leadership Role for Sports Indiana

Congratulations are due to Dan O'Connell, President/CEO of the Fort Wayne/Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau. It has just been announced that O'Connell has been elected as President of the board of directors for Sports IndianaO'Connell says:
“I am honored to lead Sports Indiana. Youth and amateur sporting events can be big business. Sports tourism is a fast growing economic development tool that almost every Indiana community can use."
Sports Indiana is an organization comprised of 21 counties who are working to bring sizable sports tournaments and events in their communities and the state of Indiana. They work closely with the State Office of Tourism Development and the Indiana Sports Corporation to promote all Indiana communities for amateur youth sports tournaments and competitions. Sports Indiana has put together cooperative marketing materials, appears as a group at industry trade shows, and collaborates on familiarization tours and public relations programs about the value sports has on a local economy.

Congratulations Dan! Youth and amateur sports will be a HUGE tourism draw as the echo boomers start getting their kids into TBall and beyond.
